Tuition from Les Llewellyn - Basketmaker
The cyntell is constructed from a thick, dried willow or hazel hoop which is curved around a circular forma and left to dry, split and shaped willow form the ribs which are also curved around formas and left to dry, the basket is then woven with buff or brown willow inserting more green ribs as required.
Les will teach you the basic skills involved in these techniques, how to use the tools required and how to select and shape your material. At the end of the two days you will have mastered the skills and made a beautiful traditional Welsh basket.

Two day tuition learning the skills to make this traditional Welsh basket.
The first day will be spent making the Cyntell hoops and preparation of ribs using formas.
The second day will be learning how to weave the Cyntell using traditional methods.
Tuition is based in Les's workshop in Bridgend and costs £150 for the two day course.
Price includes all materials used.
Light refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
